Check The Version And Build Number Of Windows

WinVer ScreenshotThe Windows Operating System has went through many changes over the years, and a common question always arises as to what actual version number and build number are you using.  It is a very easy thing to check, you simply open up a Run dialog, or with Windows Vista and Windows 7 you can type directly in the Start Menu Search box, and type the word “winver” without the quotes and hit Enter.

This will produce a popup window as shown in the screenshot on the left with the information about the Windows OS, the version number, a build number and who the software is registered to, also with Vista and 7 it will let you know if it is an evaluation copy and when it is set to expire.  This little tip is just another example of how in-depth Windows really is.
