Market Share For Computer Operating Systems

Operating Systems are a very important aspect of computers.  The OS is what runs the computer and tells it what to do and how to operate.  Developers build software for the OS to make the product much more extensible.  While there are tons of flavors of Linux, they still hold an extremely small percentage of user base, due to the fact that Linux is more complicated and not widely known by common users.  Apple has been making small inroads to the percentage with OS X, but Windows remains the dominant platform and will likely have a huge user base for the foreseeable future.

Current Market Share For PC’s And Mac’s

Another month has passed and now we have the latest Operating System percentages for computers in terms of usage.  Again we have another month of Apple trickling more market share out of the vastly superior Windows domination.

Microsoft released the Release Candidate (RC) version of Windows 7 in May and it has gotten an incredible amount of praise already.  This could be a turning point for Microsoft if users start turning back to the Windows platform.  It is presumed that Windows 7 will be finalized and released sometime in either the late summer months or early fall months.
