Microsoft tweaked a lot of common applications inside Windows with the release of Vista. The calendar is no exception here, with a new look that is cleaner and sleeker with a few more configuration options. By clicking on the clock in the System Tray you will get the standard default monthly calendar with the current time.
Now with earlier versions of Windows your only options were to use the two small arrows for navigating previous months and future months. With Windows Vista you can now click on the month and year, in between the two navigational arrows that will change the calendar to a display of just months with the arrows being a quick jump through the years.
Now you can click on the year in between the arrows and the display changes to a period of years. The arrows in the calendar will now jump through decades.
Once again you can click between the arrows and the calendar will switch into decade mode showing you a series of 10 years at a time.
The Windows Calendar makes it much more easier to navigate through many years very quickly. It was an improvement needed and it works very well. This is one area in Windows Vista that far exceeds all other calendars previous released by Microsoft.
