Change Your Desktop Theme Colors In Windows Vista

Windows Vista provides a very easy way to change the color scheme of the taskbar and the open windows colors.  As a long time user of Windows XP that was one thing that made the system colors very bland over time, having a choice of only 3 colors including the default blue, silver and olive green.

With Windows Vista there is 8 color presets to get you started off the bat, but using the color mixer you can have any color your heart desires using the 3 sliders for hue, saturation and brightness.  To change your color scheme follow the simple steps below.

  1. Right click on any open area on the Desktop.
  2. Select “Personalize”.
  3. Click on any of the default colors up top.
  4. Adjust the color intensity to your liking.
  5. For further configuration, click on Show color mixer.
  6. Adjust the 3 optional sliders to your liking.
  7. Click OK.
