January 2009 PC And Mac Total User Percentages
The economy has been facing a downwards spiral and it will be a very interesting year to see if computer sales and figures will plummet also. 2008 meant another decrease in Windows users as it dropped over 2% and Apple picked up most of those users increasing slightly over 1.5%. Since Apple computers effectively cost twice as much as PC’s it will be a chance for Microsoft to do some smart advertising and quite possibly increase their user base, or will Windows drop to below 90% market share for the first time in over a decade.
Please be aware that these percentages are based on consumers and businesses, not including servers. The actual figures and data are provided by Global Market Share Statistics and their website can be viewed here.
