Windows Vista Disk Defragmenter

Published by techspotlight at 12:05 am under Windows Vista Edit This

Windows Vista improved the Disk Defragmenter utility that is included with the OS.  The defragmentation process can now be set on a schedule, which allows a set it and forget mentality which I really like.  You can have it perform the disk defragging process either daily, weekly or monthly at a set time of day.

In addition to the schedule, Service Pack 1 included the option to select individual drives while running the defrag process, if you so desire.  The one thing that was excluded with the Disk Defragmenter is there is no graphical display while the process is running.  I use to like that feature in Windows XP but it has been omitted with Windows Vista.  Overall, the Disk Defragmenter works well, and it is one less thing to worry about, if you have it set on a schedule.  It makes for an effective way to maintain and keep your PC optimized for the best performance.
