Canon Pixma iP 3000 Printer Review

Published by techspotlight at 12:05 am under Hardware Edit This

I have been using a Canon Pixma series inkjet printer model iP 3000 (iP3000) for well over a year now, and it has been a fabulous printer.  The printer has many features I like including separate ink tanks for each color, so when one color runs out, all you have to do is buy one small refill tank cartridge that can be bought for around $7 for each color.  The printer has 2 paper storage locations, a pull out tray and the top loading feed which is very handy.  You can keep plain paper in the tray and then load in labels or envelopes in the exposed top feed, so their is no need for constantly removing and filling paper products.  The whole Pixma printer line by Canon produces clear and rich text and photos.

The Canon printer driver software is absolutely the best I have seen.  Not only is it clear and concise, but it also has extra features not seen on a lot of printer software like auto power on and off, variable time limits, 3 separate cleaning modes and 4 different print quality modes.  The software launches quickly and has a neat graphical display when the printer is actually printing.  In addition to this, the software monitors your ink levels and gives you an onscreen representation of how much ink is left in each of the 4 cartridges.

There’s only a few negative things I could say about this printer, one is that the turn on time is quite slow.  It seems to run through a cartridge and head initialization that takes longer than I would like.  The second one would be that the ink cartridges need replenishing quite frequently, especially if you are printing pictures or graphics in high quality.  While inkjets do like to consume ink fast, this Pixma model seems to eat it up faster than the normal.

Overall, I would have to rate this Canon Pixma iP 3000 printer as two thumbs up.  It prints fast, the colors are bright and vibrant, many different paper stocks can be used and the printer software is excellent.  For more information or ordering details on this product, you can visit Amazon by clicking on this link.
