Update Your Windows Software Today

Published by techspotlight at 12:05 am under Windows Updates Edit This

Once again Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday update process has brought us many more severe and critical updates for Windows.  As I have recommended previously, it is a smart idea to have Windows set to Automatic Updates so you can the fixes and patches immediately.  It is very important to keep Windows up to date to minimize the chances of getting hacked or exploited through known flaws.

There are 4 major security updates that could allow an authenticated remote attacker to compromise your system and gain control of it.  There has also been an exploit found in Internet Explorer, install the update to fix this problem.  If you have Microsoft Office, a severe vulnerability has been found that could allow arbitrary code to run when a maliciously modified file is open.

If you haven’t installed these barrage of Windows Updates this month, please do so now to keep your system running as smooth as possible.

All of these updates get tiresome, especially on dial-up. It would be nice if Microsoft didn’t charge so much to ship the “Service Pack” CDs…
