To get in the holiday spirit, you should try Santa’s Breakout which has a new take on the breakout extravaganza that happened early on in the gaming industry.  Breakout and Arkanoid were very popular games in the 70’s and 80’s, and the concept was simple, use a paddle or bat to keep a ball heading towards and destroying the bricks that are located above it.  If the ball passes the paddle you lose it to the abyss and shoot another one.

PC Game Trek just recently released this game and it is extremely fun if you like classic arcade games.  There are 60 levels with tons of configuration options.  What I really like is the Christmas theme throughout the game.  The paddle is candles, the bricks are colorful, the bonuses are Christmas items and the funniest thing is that Santa is riding his sled with reindeer and throwing snowballs at you.

The game runs on a Windows PC, version NT and up, including XP and Vista.  There is a free demo version of the game available here and is a very small download under 5 megabyte.  After the trial, Santa’s Breakout is very inexpensive at $10.  I love the music and graphics and this one is a keeper.
