Reclaim Hard Drive Space After Installing Vista SP1
Many months have past now since the release of Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista. What you might not have known is that there is a backup of all replaced files when installing SP1. This is done so you can easily rollback your computer system if SP1 causes problems. If you are satisfied with SP1 then follow the steps below in order to get the disc space back, so it’s available to use. Be aware that once you do this you will no longer be able to uninstall Service Pack 1.
- Press the Windows Key + R on the keyboard.
- Type (vsp1 cln.exe) without the parenthesises, then hit Enter.
- A dialog box will appear, type Y (for Yes), then hit Enter.
- Wait a few seconds for Windows to complete the task, and you will have the hard drive space available to you.
After applying these simple steps you will have gained an extra 600-800 MB of hard drive space.
