Enable A More Graphical Windows Vista Boot Screen

During beta testing of Windows Vista several years ago, Microsoft found out that adding graphics or logos to the boot screen increased the startup time of computers from 3-8 seconds.  Due to this, Microsoft decided to have a bootup screen that was black with a loading bar only.  I think this is somewhat goofy.  For an average of 5 more seconds to bootup Vista, I would rather see a nice screen with graphics and a cool logo.

Built-in to Vista is an Aurora boot screen that is disabled by default.  To enable a more graphical bootup screen in Windows Vista follow the five simple steps below and then restart the computer.

  1. Press the Start Orb.
  2. Type [msconfig] without the brackets and hit Enter.
  3. Click on the Boot tab.
  4. Check the “No GUI boot” box.
  5. Click OK.

The Aurora boot screen isn’t the greatest but it is much better than looking at a plain black screen while loading up Windows Vista.
