Back in the middle of May, CBS the media giant acquired CNET Networks and all of its properties for an estimated $1.8 billion dollars. CNET properties included in this sale are CNET.com, ZDNet.com, TV.com, MP3.com, News.com, Search.com, BNET.com, GameSpot.com, MySimon.com, CHOW.com, UrbanBaby.com, TechRepublic.com and their flagship property of Download.com. This acquisition made CBS one of the 10 most popular Internet companies in the United States. CBS now has an Internet reach of 82% of all online users in the United States.
Over the coming months and years, CBS plans to extend their complementary entertainment, news, sports, music and information content to a whole new global audience. Only time will tell if CBS can gain entertainment consumption by the people and increase there market-share and brand worldwide.
