All Time Best Computer Movies: Vote Now

Published by techspotlight at 12:37 am under Hollywood Edit This

Movies about computers or hacking have always been one of my favorite genres.  What is a shame is that Hollywood never seems to get it right.  Most computer movies are so far fetched from reality, even though they are entertaining.  The 3 listed below are my favorites with a brief plot summary.  I have also made a poll with a list of 10, so we can vote and see what the most popular is among the fans.  If you have some of your own personal favorites leave a comment with the computer/hacking movie title and why it is the best in your opinion.

1 - Pirates Of Silicon Valley - Centered around Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, this a fairly accurate representation of how the personal computer industry came to be.

2 - The Net - A software engineer (Sandra Bullock) uncovers a virus that pits her in the middle of computer espionage.

3 - Triumph Of The Nerds - A 3 hour documentary that starts at the very beginning before there was a personal computer and explains how the computer revolution was born.

Yeah, with John Travolta, the movie was Swordfish, and it was very good.

The Net was pretty bad; didn’t even know there was a version 2.0
Hackers was bad as well, Angelina Jolie’s boob flash was its only redeeming quality –but she isn’t my type. Gimme Aniston anytime.
Hackers 2: Takedown was pretty good, even though Hollywood felt the need to spice up Mitnick’s story beyond the point where it was recognizable as Mitnick’s story.
Swordfish has THE BEST explosion I’ve ever seen in a movie. Halle Berry’s breasts were no punishment to look at either.
Die Hard 4.0 was pretty cool, in a very much over the top kind of way.
Wargames is one of a kind, groundbreaking. Which is more than I can say about Wargames 2.
    Sneakers was a snooze fest.
Antitrust was OK, if taken with a shipload of salt. How can they let a Bill Gates be in awe over some HTML code?

Missing so far are of course Tron and The Matrix…

Oops, I see ‘Tron’ was already on the list. The PollDaddy graphic was blocked by my NoScript plugin…
