Windows Vista SP1 Any Changes?

Published by techspotlight at 11:19 am under Windows Vista Edit This

Now that Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista has been out now for several months I wanted to let you know what has changed and if it has any effect on the OS.  You will not notice any visual changes whatsoever and you might not even think anything has changed.  Microsoft has a vast list of updates and new features most of which are under the hood.  Things you might notice are listed below.

1- Disk Defragmenter now has the ability to check and uncheck multiple hard drives on your system.

2- Copying files from one volume to another has increased in speed pretty dramatically.

3- Shut down time is almost instantaneous now.

4- Resuming from sleep and hibernation is now quicker.

Not very exciting is it.  The truth in the matter is if you were getting the Windows Updates on a monthly basis SP1 only adds very small things that are shown above.  Ever since Windows Vista has been released Microsoft continually improved the hardware and software compatibility monthly.  My final thoughts are get SP1 for the simple fact that it rolls up all previous updates into one nice package even though there isn’t many new things included.
