Your Favorite Instant Messenger, Take The Poll

Published by techspotlight at 10:09 am under Software Edit This

Back when the Internet was in its infancy AOL’s Instant Messenger was completely dominant.  This was a new way to chat with people that was quick and effective.  Now this was a time that most people had AOL’s dial-up service and there Messenger was included with it.  Soon thereafter the proliferation of service providers started to grow and so did the Instant Messengers.  ICQ was the next wave that started to take some market share from AOL.  Then comes the giants like MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger.  Each of these companies had there own look and features about there software.  To this day believe it or not AIM still has a higher percentage of users than any other Messenger.  Wherever your friends, family and co-workers are, decides pretty much what software you are using.

My personal favorite is the Yahoo! Messenger.  I like the interface, the customization factor and the plug-ins available like Yahoo! Radio.  The thing is though I don’t use my favorite as my family is on Skype and we pretty much enjoy the crystal clear call quality that only Skype has.

What is your favorite?  Take the poll below and let’s see which one is the users favorite.

I really love being able to play with the avatars on Yahoo…sort of an adult version of dress up ;) However, I use AIM the most because that is what the majority of my friends and family use.

I started on ICQ way back when, but quickly found MSN messenger and have been with it ever since.

I used to use them all the time, but have found I may have used my MSN once in about a year. I do not allow my 12 year old daughter on there so we just do not use it much.
