10 Reasons Why You Should Be Using Windows Vista

Since Windows Vista has appeared on the market there has been nothing but criticism, complaints and skepticism regarding this OS.  All the tech pundits have there biased reviews which has really made me sick over the past year and a half since Vista was released.  I have heard everything from it’s slow, crashes all the time, totally unreliable and hardware/software incompatibility plus every other computer jargon under the sun.  Well I am here to tell you it is completely stable and extremely secure.  Below I will list 10 features that are impressive and well thought out that takes Microsoft’s latest OS above and beyond any other Operating System on the market today.

1. UAC (User Account Control) - This much needed feature in the Windows world halts all suspicious activity with a pop-up dialog box asking you if you initiated the last action.  This is extremely important because it can stop viruses dead in its tracks.

2. Instant Search - Click on the new blue orb that replaced the Start menu and begin typing in the box to locate programs/files on your computer in real time.  Also an ingenious search box is located in the upper-right of most open windows so you can easily find documents/files/pictures/music or whatever you are looking for instantly.

3. Aero - Windows Vista UI sports a new transparency and translucency graphical effect that is just plain awe aspiring.  It is very customizable through the display properties that takes the need out of desktop enhancement programs like Windows Blinds.

4. Sidebar - This handy feature allows you to add small programs called gadgets to your desktop.  It is very nice having common features pasted right in front of you at all times for your monitoring.  At present time there are over 2,500 gadgets for you to rummage through.5. Defender - With all the spyware floating around the web these days it’s a must having an application running in the background that monitors suspicious activity and Windows Defender does just that.  Included with Vista and turned on by default Defender uses very little resources and keeps the definitions up to date automatically for you.

6. Network and Sharing Center - The new network manager has all the tools and settings in one place making it much easier to manage your local network with a very slick user interface.

7. Thumbnail Previews - Hover over your open programs and now you get a live look at what is in that window.  This feature makes it simple when a lot of applications are open and you are unsure which one to maximize.

8. Previous Versions - Vista will remember your previous modifications to a file that you can now revert back to at any time.

9. Reliability Monitor - This is the front-end to your computers behavior by day that lets you view installed/uninstalled applications plus failures or crashes so you know what is causing a problem with your system.

10. Drivers during fresh install - Put in your Vista DVD to do a full install and you will be pleasantly surprised just how many drivers are included.  With Windows XP you had to scramble around and find drivers for all sorts of devices if you could find them and knew what piece of hardware it was, making it utterly impossible for the common user.  With Vista it is extremely simple with most motherboard devices installed automatically unless there is some less common parts.

The 10 listed is only a small subset of what makes Windows Vista a great OS and in conclusion I would like to say while Vista is not perfect it is a much needed Operating System that IS the platform that is designed for today and will be for some time to come.
